Day one of the National age group championships has come to a close and Perth Strathtay Harriers have had a stunning day.

The only PSH medal of the day came for Tom Hilton in the under 16 boys 800m, where a blanket finish saw places 2nd to 5th separated by just 0.5 of a second. His 3rd place, bronze medal,  wrapping up a personal best run of 2 minutes 4.58 seconds. Earlier in the day, Tom had qualified well by winning his heat in 2:05.82 (also a Personal Best).

Also competing in the under 16 boys 800m, Rauiridh Hood narrowly missed out on joining Tom in the final. His personal best run of 2:09.03 was just 0.01 seconds outside of a qualifying place. Not to be outdone, Rory Strickland also bagged a personal best (2:17.41) for 7th place in heat 3.

In the girls under 16 800m, Gabi Whyte took 4th place, again in a blanket finish, with a personal best of 2:16.66. She had won her earlier heat in a PB time of 2:18.75 and will have an eye on taking this title next year, as she is only a first year in the age group.

In the throws, Neve Stalker set a huge personal best in the under 16 girls Javelin, with 19.98m for 13th place. A fabulous result.

The sprinters were also in fine form, with Cooper Munro bagging a personal best in the under 16 boys 100m. His semi final run of 12.37 seconds good enough for 6th place, having qualified through the heats with 12.65 seconds.

Sophia Lowe made the semi final of the under 16 girls 200m, running 27.78 in the heat and 27.65 in the semi. Sasha Clark also contested the 200m running 28.99 seconds in her heat. Sasha had already been in action earlier in the day with a 300m heat (46.49 seconds 5th place) and a 4.55m long jump.

Day two will see more Perth athletes take to the track and the promise of more great performances to come. Well done to everyone for their efforts today.
