Day 2 of the Scottish National Age Group championships at Grangemouth saw Perth Strathtay Harriers climb to 26th overall in the medal table as their athletes secured 2 more medals.

Gold came in the Under 14 Boys 1500m as Leo McMahon stormed to victory in his timed final. A composed run, with decisive kick at 500m to go, saw him finish in a time of 4 minutes 32.49 seconds. Also in race was Alex Hilton, who powered up the home straight to finish 6th with a new personal best of 4 minutes 45.15 seconds. In an earlier heat Callum Cassie narrowly missed his personal best, finishing in 5th place with 4 minutes 59.51 seconds.

Callum had earlier finished 7th in the Javelin, with a solid series of 22 metre throws (22.67m his best performance). Also throwing consistently was Kezi Swift, whose 19.50m was goon enough for 10th place. She also did the double Javelin/1500m combination, finishing 6th in a personal best time of 5 minutes 01.53 seconds.

The second of the medal performances came from Hannah Round, who took silver in the Under 14 Girls 100m. In a hotly contested final, her time of 13.23 seconds secured 2nd place in a close finish. She was joined in the event by teams mates Emily Jones and Harriet Gibb. Both making the semi finals with Emily 4th in her semi – 14.09 seconds (Heat 13.99) and Harriet 4th in her semi – 13.98 seconds a new personal best.

The 200m was also to be a close run event, with Hannah just missing out on the medals in 4th place (27.70 seconds) and Harriet finishing 7th in her semi final (29.89).

The Under 14 girls had been led off by Sophie Cassie who started the days events in the High Jump. She finished with a height of 1.28m for 6th place in her pool. And she back that performance up with a composed 800m run of 2 minutes 34.03 seconds for 8th place in her timed final.

Amazing performances all round – well done to all.
