Sunday saw day 2 of the Scottish Senior and and Under 17 Championships with 2 Perth Strathtay Harriers in competition.
The first event for the club was Lois Garland in the senior women’s 200m. Lois was aiming for a three-peat, having won the title for the last 2 years. However, this year was not to be. Having qualified well – winning her heat – a lane draw of lane 7 was not ideal and a time of 24.39 for 4th place was the end result. Lois has a had a complex few weeks preparation, having withdrawn from the UK championships with injury. Congratulations must go to Sophie Thomas (Dunfermline) on completing the sprint double and to former Perth athlete Lucy Fraser, who picked up silver in the event.
There is a real depth in Scottish women’s sprinting, and with a Commonwealth games in Glasgow next year, the club will be working hard with Lois to give her every chance to be selected.
Also on track was Archie Birrell in the under 17 men’s 200m. He followed up yesterdays personal best in the 100m, with another in the 200m heats. His 25.39 seconds not enough to make the final, but great to see him continuing to progress. Well done Archie, a great weekends work!
