Bright sunshine welcomed the small but enthusiastic Perth Strathtay Harriers team at Cumbernauld yesterday to compete in the National XC relay championships.
Timing of the event wasn’t great with many athletes not yet back from October school holidays but those who did run have their all and did the club proud.
The boys had 3 teams in with Team A finishing 31st – Well done Callum Cassie, Ruairidh Hood and Tom Hilton. Team B were 42nd – well done Reuben Parsons, Alex Hilton and Freddie Parsons. Team C were 69th – well done Rory Strickland, Mateusz Kruczynski and Lewis Hood.
In the girls, sadly illness depleted the team but Sophie Cassie completed the course in 63rd place for a fine solo effort.
However, history was made as PSH entered a masters Mens team!! Not many can recall if Perth has ever entered a relay team but Alistair Hilton, Dave Cassie, Bruce Gibb and Gregg Parsons powered round for 17th place! With more men joining for next weekends East District league XC, it’s great to see more seniors taking part.
It should also be noted that the parents and young athletes support for the Masters team was noticed not only by our Team, but by the other clubs running around us. Many commented on great support we received. Our athletes never fail to give their all, not only in their own performances but in their support to cheers their fellow athletes on. Thank you to each and everyone of you!
Check out the club socials for pictures of the day.
