On this day, 18th July 1998, the Scottish Schools Athletics Association hosted the annual SIAB Under 17 Track and Field International at Dam Park, Ayr.
Team Scotland had 2 Perth Strathtay Harriers representing and brought back 3 medals for their achievements!
Graeme Lammie ran in the opening event of the day – 400m hurdles and narrowly missed out on bronze as he set a huge PB of 54.85 seconds, running what would be his fastest time of the year.
In the 200m, Bruce Gibb took bronze in a line up that featured future world relay bronze medallist, Tyrone Edgar. His time of 22.84 seconds very credible into a strong headwind.
Both Graeme and Bruce would then combine with Gary Carr (Victoria Park) and Craig Erskine (Dunfermline West Fife) in the 4x400m relay team to win silver in the last event of the day.
